Europe! There are so many different countries all with different cultures and the infrastructure makes it easy to hit multiple stops in one trip.
Most interesting or unique trip Naomi Tschannen-Smith has worked on:
My own honeymoon! My husband and I took two weeks to backpack through Ireland, Switzerland, and Spain. We had a rental car in Ireland and drove around most of the country. We only spent two days in Switzerland to visit some of my family and then took a train to Barcelona. The city was super energetic, but also a little overwhelming. We ended up taking a spontaneous day trip to Sitges, which be both really enjoyed. It was fun to plan this trip. It was also stressful. I wish I knew then what I know now and took advantage of a travel agent.
Best travel tip:
Get off the beaten path and explore! It’s nice to experience the big cities and hit the main attractions, but you’ll have the best memories visiting small towns and villages and living like a local for a few days.
If I had $10,000 dollars to travel anywhere in the world:
I would love to experience Thailand! Spend a few days in Bangkok, travel north to Chang Mai and Chang Rai, and then relax in beautiful Phuket, Ko Samui, and Krabi. It’s also a dream of mine to visit South Africa! I would love to experience the vibe of Cape Town, hit some wineries, and then visit Victoria Falls. I have also sent many clients to Croatia but have never been there myself. It’s a beautiful and very diverse country and look forward to visiting one day!
Travel is one of few aspects in life that can enhance your perspective. Get out of your comfort zone. Be a sponge when you travel – talk to the locals, learn about the history and culture, and savor the cuisine. Always appreciate what is different from your norm.
