Our Favorite Foodie Anniversary Hot Spots!

Love exploring flavorful regional cuisine that’s as tempting to the eyes as it is the stomach? Prefer dishes with a bit of a tropical flair? If you’re looking for an anniversary adventure that would make even the most discriminating foodie jealous, set your sights on the Caribbean.

Why the Caribbean?

If you and your honey are serious foodies, we have a few words that answer that question rather nicely: eclectic flavors, romantic beaches, world-class resorts and 5-star restaurants.

The major Caribbean destinations each have their own signature flavors with dashes of international flavors added in for good measure. While fish, chicken, pork, beans, rice and tropical fruits are mainstays, many of the islands have rather distinct ways of serving up fare courtesy of their European influences throughout history. And, if the food wasn’t enough of a reason to set sail for the Caribbean to celebrate your anniversary, the stunning landscapes, balmy weather and upscale resorts can surely sweeten the deal.

Not sure where to go in the Caribbean to mark a milestone anniversary while enjoying a tasty foodie adventure? Here are a few of our favorite places to help you get started planning:

  • Jamaica – This island nation is famous for more than its steel drum sounds. Put Jamaica on your anniversary itinerary and you’ll get to enjoy some of the most unique flavors found in the world. Be sure to try jerk anyway you can get it and don’t pass up the rum either – it’s some of the best in the world.
  • Puerto Rico – Dishes here deliver a true blending of Caribbean, American and Spanish flavors. If the tropical splendor of Puerto Rico fits your anniversary plans, consider a stop in San Juan. Here you’ll find some of the best restaurants found anywhere in the world.
  • St. Lucia – This island nation is famed for its stunning landscapes and world-class resorts, but it’s no slouch in the food department either. With its signature Creole flavors, St. Lucia keeps it spicy for sure. Be sure to sample the green bananas and salt fish while here. You can also tempt your taste buds with barbecued fish.
  • St. Martin – With its heavy Dutch and French influences, this island’s cuisine is truly tempting. St. Martin, in fact, is said to have hundreds of restaurants packed into its rather tiny 37 square miles. Don’t let the size food you though; St. Martin packs in the romance, wonder and flavors to make certain vacationers here have the time of their lives.
