The striking Lovrijenac Fortress Lovrijenac Fortress, which is sometimes known as St. Lawerence Fortress, is just outside the city walls. This striking location is the Red Keep in the series, and it provides a breathtaking location for photography.
The second largest city in the country, this is a location that is steeped in history, architecture and exotic things to see and do. In the series, Split is the fictional city of Meereen, which easy to spot landmarks and historical sites dotted throughout the city. Watchers of the show will recognize Diocletian’s Palace as well as the Fortress of Klis, both of which had important roles in the filming of the series. After a day of touring and walking through this walled city, plan a special evening at one of the local casinos or take in a gourmet meal at a fine dining restaurant.
Although not in the Game of Thrones, while in Croatia plan to visit Opatija, which is the location of one of the first resorts on this part of the Adriatic coast and dates back to the mid-19th century.
