For a destination wedding, groomsmen gifts can get a bit complicated. After all, your groomsmen will need to be able to bring them back home with them in their luggage, maybe even a carry on. That nixes personalized pen knives, razor sets, or that awesome home beer brewing kit. So what’s a groom to do? 
According to Nate DeMars, founder of Pursuit, a local Columbus suit shop, many of the grooms they work with opt to pay for a chunk of the suit they have their groomsmen wearing. “It’s a practical gift that makes being in their wedding not as much of a financial commitment,” he says. For destination weddings that Pursuit has worked with, rather than the cotton or linen suit (common for beach weddings), grooms have their men wearing colored suits, like bright blue, or light grey suits, or colored shirts that fit the beach motif. These may still be specific to the wedding, but are definitely more flexible for use than a linen suit. This way, when everyone goes home a little tanner, they can still wear the suit they bought in an everyday setting. Other grooms opt to purchase everyone fun accessories. Pursuit has several styles of ties and bow ties as well as pocket squares. DeMars mentions a coral linen bow tie that might work in a beach wedding. Perhaps most zany, though, are the Happy Socks. “Almost every wedding party we do does Happy Socks. It’s a fun thing they can do that may not be as noticeable while they’re up on the altar,” says DeMars. He also suggests the groom bring the whole box of the socks or pocket squares so no one forgets. “I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how receptive the groomsmen are. We teach a lot of them to tie a bow tie for the first time.
