13 Jul Top Tips For A Blissful Time In Greece
We recently traveled to Greece and had an amazing time!! Here are some of the highlights and best tips for a Greek Island Get-Away.
Book private tours: A cruise is a great way to see a lot of the Greek Islands without having to figure out the logistics on your own. While some cruise line excursions are great, I find it much more relaxing to book private tours. We used Tours By Locals & Viator and found amazing tour guides in Mykonos, Rhodes, Santorini, and Corfu.
Fly First Class: Yes, it’s expensive. But our inbound flight to Greece was on a much older plane. I couldn’t get over how small and uncomfortable the seats were!! While some carriers offer more comfortable seating in coach class, others do not. We upgraded to first class on Lufthansa on the way home, and it was absolutely the right thing to do.
Upgrade your cabin: I was always one of those “but we’re never in the cabin!” people. Then I upgraded to a two-bedroom suite on the NCL Jade. The service upgrades were fantastic. We had priority service in every port, so we were first off the ship. The afternoon snacks left in our cabin and every day were a great little perk. And the view from my bathtub! OMG! Our cabin became the cabin where everyone met up for a coffee or an afternoon snack. It was totally worth it.
Eat Local: One of the best things about private tours is that the guides knew the best places to eat. Our tour guide in Mykonos took us to a bakery that had been in the same family for generations followed by a picnic on a private beach. Our guide in Rhodes took us to a private beach club with beach towels and chairs to use for the day and amazing food! Our food & walking tour in Corfu was one of the best parts of the trip. This was our second tour with Corfu Walking Tours. We enjoyed every minute of it. And we’re all still obsessing about the view and salad we had at Loza in Patmos.
